We Have a Passion for Purple!

In addition to sharing a mutual passion for consulting, our three senior leaders (Patti Weber, Grace Lynch, and Mark Weber) are known for their passion for creating awareness for pancreatic cancer.

Purple is the official color that represents pancreatic cancer, and the trio is known across the greater Charlotte region and beyond for their long-term advocacy for the the disease. In fact, their passion runs so deep that Patti, Grace, and Mark launched the nonprofit Charlotte Pancreatic Cancer Alliance community group last year to amplify their voices.

Shortly after forming the group, the trio wasted no time in joining the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition, a consortium of nearly 100 advocacy groups from 33 countries on 6 continents.

The World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition spotlighted the work of Patti, Grace and Mark in the October 2021 issue of its global newsletter. Learn more here.

We are Purple Podcasting!

Listen to Croixstone’s leaders on the Project Purple Podcast

For our CEO, Patti Weber, it is her father.
For our Senior Manager of Business Operations, Grace Lynch, it is her niece.
For our Managing Partner, Mark Weber, it is his mother.

To know Croixstone is to know that each of our three leaders have been touched in a very personal way by pancreatic cancer, the USA’s third leading cause of cancer-related deaths.

In January of 2020, Patti, Grace and Mark launched the Charlotte Pancreatic Cancer Alliance, a nonprofit community group that raises awareness for the disease.  Last week, the three leaders shared the stories of their loved ones and their new community group on the Project Purple Podcast, ranked #1 on Feedspot’s “Top 10 Pancreatic Cancer Podcasts You Must Follow in 2020.”

Listen here.

This November It’s About Time

It is considered to be a rare cancer.

And yet, it is the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the USA. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, and Croixstone has joined forces with the Charlotte Pancreatic Cancer Alliance and the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition to create awareness for the world’s toughest cancer.

For Croixstone, the mission to create awareness is very personal.  Our CEO and co-founder, Patti Weber, lost her father to pancreatic cancer in 2005.  7 years later, our Managing Partner and co-founder, Mark Weber, lost his mother to the same disease.

Since there is no early detection for pancreatic cancer, it is important that you know the symptoms and risks associated with the disease. Please take just a few minutes and click HERE to learn the basics of pancreatic cancer symptoms and risks. Then take time to share your new knowledge with your family and friends.

Your actions could save a life (even your own)!

The Private Markets

Last week, our Managing Partner, Mark Weber, was invited to speak at the August 2020 monthly meeting of BENG Charlotte (Business Executives Networking Group).  Mark spoke about trends in the private markets and focused much of his talk on the private equity sector.

During his talk, Mark recommended that the attendees become familiar with Pitchbook’s publication entitled “What are the private markets?”  This free white paper provides a comprehensive, easy read for professionals seeking to better understand this fast-growing economic sector and the ecosystem supporting it.

Walk With Croixstone

Although pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S., most people know little about the disease.  Croixstone Consulting is a huge supporter of the Charlotte Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting the world’s toughest cancer on all fronts:  research, clinical initiatives, patient services and advocacy.  So why does Croixstone passionately fight to rewrite the future of this disease?  Patti Weber lost her father in 2005 to pancreatic cancer, and Mark Weber lost his mother to the same disease in 2012.  We invite you, your friends and loved ones to join us at PurpleStride Charlotte, the walk to end pancreatic cancer, on September 15 in Uptown Charlotte.  Join our team here.

Education Innovation

Did you know that Charlotte is one of six cities in the USA identified by The Brookings Institute (a nonprofit public policy organization) as a “major-emerging immigrant gateway“? With more than one quarter of a million immigrants, Charlotte’s ability to integrate immigrants (especially when it comes to education, occupational training, and English language ability) is critical for our city to make the most of its immigrant population and their mostly U.S.-born offspring.

Croixstone’s founder, Mark Weber, serves as Board Chair of ourBRIDGE for KIDS, an innovative, nonprofit afterschool program that serves more than 100 CMS families representing 20 cultures on Charlotte’s east side.  Sil Ganzó, ourBRIDGE founder and Executive Director, was recently profiled by StyleBlueprint as a “FACE of Charlotte.”

Healthcare Innovation Tribe

We enjoyed participating in this week’s “first ever” North Carolina Health Innovators’ CEO Roundtable. It was energizing to spend the afternoon with healthcare executives, thought leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs from across the Charlotte region. A huge shout out to Scott Pope of In Scope Ventures and Kelli Murray of MedSpeaks.com for sharing your vision on creating our own local “innovator tribe” here in the QC. And thanks to host Blair Primis of OrthoCarolina for your warm hospitality! #innovatehealthCLT
