WBTV’s Maureen O’Boyle Visits the Croixstone Loft

The Croixstone team enjoyed welcoming WBTV’s Maureen O’Boyle (Anchor/Reporter) to our loft today. We enjoyed working with Maureen for a photo and video session to promote PurpleStride Charlotte 2017…the walk/run to end pancreatic cancer hosted by the Charlotte Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) on September 9.

Croixstone’s Founder and Managing Partner, Mark Weber, serves as a volunteer Media Relations Chair for PanCAN. Patti Weber, Croixstone’s Chief Experience Officer, volunteers as Teams Ambassador for PurpleStride Charlotte.

Portfolio Careers + LOOM Coworking + Croixstone Consulting

Yesterday the Croixstone Consulting team enjoyed the opportunity to facilitate a professional development “Lunch + Learn” talk on the topic of portfolio careers at LOOM Coworking. The session was led by Mark Weber (Croixstone’s founder and Managing Partner) and Tony Armeni, MBA (Senior Consultant in Croixstone’s Human Resources practice group). The Croixstone team presented at the invitation of Jen Belk (Director and Programming Coordinator, LOOM Coworking and VP of Design and Consulting, Belk Construction Management Group).

Portfolio careers have long been prevalent with creative arts professionals and have emerged as a compelling career option for business professionals. Simply stated, a portfolio career is a working style where a professional has several strings to his/her career bow (often creating a mix of employment, freelancing and/or consulting). Business professionals are increasingly turning to portfolio careers to combine their passions in a way that works for them.

Despite Mother Nature’s fury yesterday, the Croixstone team presented to a full house and enjoyed the warm hospitality delivered by Jen Belk in the energetic LOOM Coworking space. Thanks to Jen and all who participated in yesterday’s “Lunch + Learn”.

Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance Award Winners 2017

This month, the Mayor’s Mentoring Alliance hosted a series of events in Charlotte in celebration of National Mentoring Month.

The events — which included a mentoring town hall, mentor 101 training, an agency/mentor speed networking session and awards ceremony — helped provide community members with more information about the importance of mentoring, connected potential and existing mentors to local mentoring agencies, and celebrated the great work that mentors do in our community.

Croixstone Hosts Table Today at Annual Good Fellows Luncheon

Croixstone Consulting founder Mark Weber, a long-term member of The Good Fellows Club, is hosting a table at today’s annual Christmas luncheon at the Charlotte Convention Center.

A club of 1,700 business and civic leaders, The Good Fellows Club was founded in 1917 by a group of men at Charlotte’s Second Presbyterian Church. Through the years, the club has evolved into a charity that has raised millions to help the working poor who often can’t get aid at other nonprofits.

The club’s board of directors consists of a number of well-known Charlotte business leaders including:

Thomas E. Meckley, Treasurer

Shift from Pink to Purple this November for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that more people die from pancreatic cancer than breast cancer in the U.S.?

The Croixstone Consulting team is joining forces with the Charlotte Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in shifting from pink to purple this November in support of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and World Pancreatic Cancer Day, taking place on November 17.

Only 8 percent of Americans with pancreatic cancer survive 5 years or more. In 2010, after seeing too little progress in pancreatic cancer survival in over a half century, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network put a stake in the ground with a bold and aggressive goal to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2020. With the help of the Charlotte region, the U.S. will see purple this November and move one step closer to doubling survival by 2020.

Croixstone founder Mark Weber lost his mother to pancreatic cancer in 2013 and serves as the Media Relations Chair for the Charlotte Affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Croixstone’s Chief Experience Officer, Patti Weber, lost her father to pancreatic cancer in 2005 and provides leadership as Teams Ambassador for PurpleStride Charlotte, the Charlotte Affiliate’s signature fundraising event (5K timed-run and family-friendly walk).
